Our fifth beer festival is taking place from Tuesday 15th November
to Tuesday 22nd November.
Beers
An up-to-date list of beer in the pub is shown on
the Drinks page. 24 of the beers will be on the stillage in the
public bar, and the rest will be cycled through the handpumps. This
is the list of beers for the festival:
- Batemans - Salem Porter 4.7 (Lincolnshire)
- A porter with a dry
roast, nutty palate and rich malty after-taste.
- Brewsters - Marquis 3.8 (Leicestershire)
- A well balanced and
refreshing session bitter with maltiness and a dry, hoppy finish.
- Brewsters - Daffy's Elixir 4.2 (Leicestershire)
- A best bitter
with a pale golden appearance. Two English hops combine to give a well
balanced beer with a big hop finish. This beer won a silver medal at
the Beauty Of Hops Competition in 2004 under its development name,
Sunshine. The Reverend Daffy was an eccentric 17th Century Vicar from
the Vale who sold his elixirs as "cure alls".
- Brewsters - Rutterkin 4.5 (Leicestershire)

with a golden appearance. A zesty hop flavour from American Mount
Hood hops combines with a touch of malt sweetness to give a rich, full
bodied beer.
- Brewsters - Brunhilde 4.8 (Leicestershire)
- Buffy's - Lite Relief 4.1 (Norfolk)
- Vanilla in both aroma and
taste is the dominant feature in this amber brew. The basic maltiness

diminishes to a sweet vanilla echo.

- Copper coloured with a subtle
hop and malt bouquet.
- Crouch Vale - Essex Boy's Bitter 3.5 (Essex)
- A pale brown beer
with plenty of pleasing malt and hop flavour despite the low
gravity. Unputdownable!

- This mid-brown beer is
wonderfully full bodied and malty. A classic 'best' and an established
local favourite which aims to please and succeeds time and time
again. Definitely moreish!

straw-coloured bitter with a big hoppy aroma. The hops with fruit
produce a full bitter finish.

- No
dominant flavours but hops and fruit combine in the bitter finish, A
good session beer for its strength.

flavoured amber beer with a smoked maltiness balanced by a citrus
fruit - belies its strength.

- Fenland - Amber Solstice 4.1 (Cambridgeshire)
- Fenland - Smoke Stack 4.2 (Cambridgeshire)

roasted and complex scent. The first sip suggests a mild but it is a
beer with a satisfying hop bite.
- Frog Island - Natterjack 4.8 (Northamptonshire)
- Deceptively
robust, golden and smooth. Fruit and hop aromas fight for dominance
before the grainy astringency and floral palate give way to a long dry
aftertaste with a hint of lingering malt.
- Frog Island - Shoemaker 4.2 (Northamptonshire)
- An amber bitter
with an orangey aroma of fruity Cascade hops which is balanced by
malt. Citrus and hoppy bitterness lasts into a long, dry finish.
