
Our fourth beer festival took place from Wednesday 22nd June
to Sunday 26th June.
Beers
This is the list of beers we had at the festival:
- Burton Bridge - Moorish Mild 3.9 (Staffordshire)
- A ruby
coloured mild with a tan head. A little mocha and fruit. The taste is
lightly fruity and there is also roasted malt.
- Burton Bridge - Bridge Bitter 4.2 (Staffordshire)
- Pale brown
with good hoppy aroma. Hoppy taste with a touch of malt. Full hoppy
lingering finish.
- Burton Bridge - Civvy Salvation 4.5 (Staffordshire)
- Burton Bridge - Golden Delicious 3.8 (Staffordshire)
- An
exquisite gold beer. Hoppy aroma with sweet start, going very hoppy to
a mouth watering finish, but not over astringent.
- Caledonian - Deuchars IPA 3.8 (Scotland)
- A pale gold colour
with intense hop flavours and aromas balanced with Caledonian's
traditional soft maltiness. It is an excellent aperitif! Champion
Beer of Britain 2002.
- Eccleshall - Slaters Bitter 3.6 (Stafford)
- Golden bitter with
full malty taste. Hoppiness develops to a good bitter finish. Yeast
prevalent throughout.
- Eccleshall - Slaters Top Totty 4.0 (Stafford)
- Golden bitter
with a hoppy aroma and taste with a bitter and astringent finish.
- Eccleshall - Slaters Shining Knight 4.5 (Stafford)
- Hops and
fruit combine to the bitter finish. A good session beer for its
strength, so beware.
- Eccleshall - Slaters Premium 4.4 (Stafford)
- Caramel and roast
aroma, fruit and hop taste. Complex hop fruit and bitter finish with
astringency.
- Eccleshall - Slaters Supreme 4.7 (Stafford)
- Copper-coloured
bitter. Hoppy fruity aroma leading to a sweet start and a bitter
finish.
- Harviestoun - Dragonfly 3.6 (Scotland)
- A pale hoppy bitter,
brewed with the American hop Amarillo, blended with English Fuggles.
The malt grist is pale ale and crystal malts plus wheat malt to
promote a full creamy head.
- Milton - Neptune 3.8 (Cambridge)
- A crisp, nutty flavoured
copper-coloured ale, with a pronounced hop aroma.
- Milton - Justinian 3.9 (Cambridge)
- Crisp pale bronze coloured
bitter. Attractive bitter orange flavours persist into a satisfying
lasting finish.
- Milton - Jupiter 3.5 (Cambridge)
- A golden session beer with a
delicate hoppy flavour leading to a satisfying bitter finish.
- Milton - Pegasus 4.1 (Cambridge)
- Complex copper-coloured
beer. The initial hoppiness is balanced with a long fruity, malty
finish. Very moreish. Champion Beer of East Anglia and Cambridgeshire
2002.
- Milton - Sparta 4.3 (Cambridge)
- A new beer in the ancient
cities range. Pale in colour with an intense hoppy bitterness.
Perfect summer quaffing.
- Nethergate - Umbel 3.8 (Suffolk)
- The wort is percolated
through coriander seeds to a give a wonderful, warming, spicy fruit
tang to both the taster and aroma. The hops are strong enough to a
make themselves known and strong bitter malt finish hits late.
- Nethergate - Umbel Magna 5.0 (Suffolk)
- The addition of
coriander to the Old Growler wort completes the original 1750s recipe
for this distinctive dark beer. The powerful spiciness only adds to
this porter's appeal.
- Nethergate - Dr. John's Panacea 4.3 (Suffolk)
- A mid-brown
dryish bitter. Flavours are sweet and floral initially then bitter
hops.
- Nethergate - Priory Mild 3.5 (Suffolk)
- Distinctive
full-flavoured, very dark mild with pronounced lingering roast and dry
hop aftertaste.
- Nottingham - Rock Mild 3.8
- Smooth and dark with a biscuity
flavour.
- Nottingham - EPA 4.2
- A light coloured, exceptionally well
balanced smooth ale with a light fragrant hop finish. Bronze award
winer at the CAMRA Great British Beer Festival 2004.
- Nottingham - Cock & Hoop 4.3
- Round on the palate with a citrus
hop flavour and a crisp finish.
- Nottingham - Bullion 4.7
- Gold in its purest form! A single
malt beer with a delicate lightness which belies its strength and a
multi-faceted triple hop finish.
- Nottingham - Supreme 5.2
- A champion amongst premium
beers. Light in colour and hop balance giving an easy drinking, strong
ale that commands respect.
- Old Cannon - Gunner's Daughter 5.6 (Suffolk)
- A well balanced
strong ale with a complexity of hop, fruit, sweetness and bitterness
in the flavour, and a lingering pleasant, hoppy, bitter
aftertaste.
- Old Cannon - Best Bitter 3.8 (Suffolk)
- An excellent session
bitter brewed using Styrian Goldings, giving a crisp grapefruit aroma
and taste. Very refreshing and full of flavour.
- Pitfield - East Kent Goldings 4.4 (London)
- A single varietal
hop beer, orange/gold ale with a fruity, peppery hop nose. Good,
fruity hop is well balanced by smooth malt in the taste, which is not
too bitter.
- St. Austell - H.S.D. 5.0 (Cornwall)
- Brewed with plenty of malt
and generous portions of English Fuggles and Goldings hops. HSD is a
classic full bodied beer of considerable depth and complexity.
- Timothy Taylor - Landlord 4.3 (West Yorkshire)
- A well rounded
beer with complex hoppy aroma beloved by landlord drinkers. Former
champion beer of Britain.
- Tipples - Longshore 3.6 (Norfolk)
- A Light bitter with a good
pale amber colour, a nice balanced malty flavour and nicely hopped. A
good session beer.
- Tipples - Redhead 4.2 (Norfolk)
- A traditional bitter. Robust
malty flavour and a rich red/amber colour. Good hoppy aroma and a
sweet nutty aftertaste.
- Wadworth - 6X 4.3 (Wiltshire)
- Malty and fruity with
nutty/biscuity hints and balancing hop character. Lingering malty but
bitter finish with a full bodied aftertaste.
- Wadworth - JCB 4.7 (Wiltshire)
- A deep amber, robust but
perfectly balanced traditional English ale. A rich malty body,
complex hop character and a hint of tropical fruit in the aroma and
taste.
